A key mandate of Serendipity Arts Foundation is the creation of alternative and irregular spaces for art within the ecosystem of culture in India. Following this directive, Serendipity Arts Foundation founded C340, Defence Colony – a basement space in a residential area in Delhi that functions as a platform for artistic programmes, creative collaborations and educational initiatives.
C340 aims to be space that can adapt itself to various projects, thereby addressing the need for alternative spaces. It is a small, multifaceted area in the foundation office that is suitable for a range of art programmes – exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, temporary artist studios, performances etc. The malleable nature of the basement compels such programmes to create new typologies and small spatial experiments that enable an experiential way of looking at the arts.
In 2020, it is our endeavour to expand the possibilities that the space has to offer, and make C340 an accessible, intimate and unique space for art in New Delhi. Space C340 is our effort to encourage the continued and varied use of this space by artists practicing within and across visual, material and performing arts.
We invite proposals from artists and actants who seek to use the space for processual or final installations, performances, rehearsals, screenings, discussions, group activities, or any other format of creative exploration and expression.
Space 340 will be available for applicants from March – May 2020, and allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. Participants can use the space from 10 AM – 6 PM, with basic provision of electricity, restrooms, and access to pantry.
All applicants must submit a brief outline of their proposed usage of the space.
Proposals must provide the following details:
- A brief description of the project (no more than 500 words). Projects must specify the use of peripheral or additional resources.
